After winning the GamerWorld championship, professional videogamer Samantha Diaz is invited to test the company’s newest interactive experience at its soon-to-open resort. She and her fellow gamers play out scenes from their favorite sci-fi missions using innovative technology that puts them right in the action. Their adventures include joining the Colonial Space Marines to take back the moonbase from terrorists and jumping to another part of the galaxy to fight aliens on a distant planet.
Meanwhile, Sam’s brother Gray, a drone pilot in the Air Force, is investigating a deadly incident with evidence that leads to the same GamerWorld Corporation. Now Sam must not only win the game but also help Gray solve a real-world mystery vital to national security by finding evidence hidden within the game.
As she and her fellow teammates are drawn into ever-more-immersive role-playing and virtual environments, the line between the real world and the game world begins to blur. When presented with different timelines, multiple realities, and untrustworthy allies, Sam must decide what is real and what is fantasy. Her fate, and that of the world, hangs in the balance.
GamerWorld is a near future, mind-bending science fiction novel that combines the adventure of first-person action games and the classic sci-fi that inspired them, with compelling themes about the nature of reality and our subjective experiences.
The novel will be available soon, and you can read the first chapter here.
