  1. As a kid I used to bottle feed baby calves including one year, baby beefaloes (calves that were part buffalo).
  2. I can tell you my favorite song off every David Bowie album released since 1966. (Including the Tin Machine CDs.)
  3. My biography is published on the same page as Mike Tyson in the 2008 edition of Who’s Who in America.
  4. I’m 6’-1” about 230 lbs, and my mother still sees me as the little guy in our family evidenced by a recent gift of a sweatshirt that was only size L instead of XL or XXL.
  5. I have completed three marathons, all after the age of 35, and each progressively slower.
  6. I have an uncanny ability to perceive thick layers of dust as virtually invisible. (Dust Blindness)
  7. I am a licensed Realtor in Arizona, but currently it is inactive. (Too many other things going on!)
  8. I go by Gordon at work, Gordie to my family, GT at home and Gordon Freeman in Half Life 2.
  9. My athletic abilities seem to be summarized by my trophies: Most Improved Player – Little League Baseball, Most Improved Player – Sophomore Year Varsity Football, Most Improved Player – Senior Year Tennis. In other words, my natural abilities set the bar pretty low when starting a new sport!
  10. I visited a 12th century chapel in England that has entombed within one Sir Baldric Tyas, whom is believed to be an ancestor of the first Tyus that immigrated to America.
  11. I designed the MAG Regional Report, which won the Arizona Planning Association’s award for best plan in 2005.
  12. My Meyers-Briggs personality type is INTP, which stands for Introversion, iNtuitive, Thinking, Perceiving. Of all combinations it is the most rare type, with only about 1 percent of the population.
  13. I used to teach Architectural Drafting and CAD at ITT Technical Institute in Spokane, Washington.
  14. Growing up on a farm, we had about 40 acres of timber back behind the pastures. So the weekend after my birthday in December, the whole family would go back into the woods to find the perfect Christmas tree. Often, the best tree seemed to be halfway up an even bigger tree, so many trees were decapitated over the years.
  15. My current computer can run ten different operating systems: Mac OS X High Sierra, Mac OS 9 (via Sheepshaver), Mac OS 8 (via Basilisk II), Linux, Windows 7 and Chrome (via Parallels), Windows 10 (via Bootcamp), DOS (via DOSBOX), GEM (Atari ST emulation), and X11 as part of Mac OS X’s UNIX core. Don’t ask me why, I don’t have a good explanation.
  16. Simon and Garfunkel and Johnny Cash are the artists where my father and my own record collections intersect.
  17. I still like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
  18. My first “girlfriend” in 5th grade was Pam Schultz. She became my girlfriend because I wrote Gordie + Pam on the bulletin board in the classroom. So we held hands during recess once. That was about the extent of it.
  19. My eyebrows grow wild.
  20. Once when I was a sophomore in college, I got drunk with a few of my floor mates. Well, that’s not a rare story, but these buddies knew someone on the first floor of the dorm whose room had a trap door in the floor that allowed access to the steam tunnels underneath the building – and entire campus. It seemed like a great idea at the time to explore them. I don’t remember exactly where I went, or how I got back out of them, but I did notice a lot of burns the next morning.
